"low frequency joy..."
The Kroma Field build dark experimental soundscapes using psychedelic drones and heavily processed guitars, electroacoustic instruments and tape loops. Tracks are typically recorded live and built up until a dense wall of lush sound emerges, using detuned guitars, distorted harmonics, and heavily amped percussion, often at near glacial tempos, often with a discernible trace of melody. This music has strong cinematic qualties and is frequently used with art and video installations. There have been a number of collaborations and line up changes along the way, but the dna remains essentially the same.
Early recordings are hard to find, limited to hand crafted CDs and cassette tapes passed between friends. In 2019 digital remastering of some of the best earlier work resulted in a new release 'Black Sunn'; based on recovered material from previously lost archive tapes. New video installations and recordings are planned for 2019. For licensing any of theis work please email here.
